Foundry Technician
A foundry technician is a skilled professional who specializes in the production of metal castings. They work in a foundry, which is a facility that melts down metals and pours them into molds to create various products. As a foundry technician, your main responsibility will be to operate and maintain the equipment used in this process. You will be required to have a deep understanding of metallurgy and metalworking techniques. You must also be physically fit and able to work in a hot and noisy environment.
Your daily tasks will include preparing the materials for casting, monitoring the melting process, pouring molten metal into molds, and removing finished products from the molds once they have cooled. To excel as a foundry technician, you must have excellent attention to detail, as even small mistakes can lead to defective products. You should also be comfortable working with your hands and have strong problem-solving skills. Additionally, you must be able to follow strict safety protocols at all times.
This position requires at least 2 years of experience working in a foundry or similar setting. A high school diploma or equivalent is also required, although an associate's degree in metallurgy or related field is preferred.
As this role involves working with hot metals and heavy machinery, physical fitness is crucial. You must also be comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time.
This is a full-time position with a salary of $1300 per month. The hours may vary depending on production demands, so flexibility is important. The company provides accommodation for employees who require it.
