Typesetter
The Typesetter will be responsible for setting and arranging text and images for print and digital publications. They will work closely with editors, graphic designers, and clients to ensure that all materials are prepared in a clear, accurate, and visually appealing manner. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Use desktop publishing software to typeset text and images for print and digital materials
- Collaborate with editors, graphic designers, and clients to ensure accuracy and visual appeal of materials
- Proofread materials for errors in spelling, grammar, and formatting
- Convert documents into different file formats as needed
- Maintain style guides and templates for consistent formatting across publications
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress
- Familiarity with typography principles and design concepts
- Excellent attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and clients effectively
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively under tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field
- Prior experience in typesetting or desktop publishing role
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS for web publishing
- Understanding of printing processes and file preparation for print production
This is a contract position based in Funchal with a salary of 1200$. Accommodation will also be provided.
