Librarian Assistant


We are hiring a dedicated and organized Librarian Assistant to join our team at the Odense Public Library. As a Librarian Assistant, you will work closely with the head librarian to support the daily operations of the library. Your responsibilities will include assisting with cataloging, managing library materials, and providing excellent customer service to library patrons.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in cataloging and organizing library materials, including books, audiovisual materials, and digital resources
- Handle circulation tasks such as checking out and returning items, collecting fines, and issuing library cards
- Provide assistance to patrons in locating library materials and using library resources
- Maintain a clean and organized library environment by shelving books, shelf-reading, and reorganizing materials as needed
- Assist with planning and implementing library programs and events for all ages
- Conduct basic reference interviews with patrons to determine their information needs and provide appropriate resources
- Collaborate with the head librarian on collection development by suggesting new titles or weeding out outdated or damaged materials

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred but not required
- Previous experience working in a library or customer service setting is highly desirable
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide excellent customer service to diverse populations
- Familiarity with computer systems and proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Salary:
This is a full-time position offering a salary of $1400 per month. Accommodation will also be provided for the successful candidate.
