Librarian Assistant
As a Librarian Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the library in Mombasa. Your main duties will include assisting library patrons with finding and checking out materials, organizing and shelving books and other materials, and maintaining an orderly and welcoming environment for library users. You will also support the librarian in managing the library's collection, creating displays and exhibits, and promoting library programs to the community.

To excel in this role, you should have a passion for books and information, excellent customer service skills, and strong organizational abilities. You must also be able to work well independently as well as part of a team. Previous experience working in a library setting is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist library patrons with finding materials and checking out items
- Organize and shelve books, magazines, and other materials according to the library's classification system
- Maintain a clean and welcoming environment for library users
- Support the librarian in managing the collection by cataloging items, ordering new materials, and weeding out old or damaged items
- Create eye-catching displays to promote new books or events
- Assist with planning and promoting library programs such as book clubs or author talks
- Answer basic reference questions using available resources
- Help troubleshoot any technical issues with computers or other equipment in the library

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in Library Science is a plus
- Excellent communication skills; fluency in English is preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Passion for books, reading, and learning
- Previous experience working in a library setting is preferred but not required
