Experience:
My name is Souleymane Siddo Diallo, I am Nigerien, and I have spent the last ten years working in Europe and Northen America. I received my Bachelor of Engineering degree in 2009 in Nigeria, and I worked with quantity surveying and quality control on construction sites in various fields for several years. Management in Africa requires you to be adaptive. When I worked for Sonico, I was first involved in recruiting workers, then I was the site analysis engineer, I was in charge of procurement and tendering, and when the company was getting established I was set to conduct site research and evaluate the profit of our products. During this period of my career, I also conducted several quality control projects – which also required me to learn quickly. In Sinohydro, who was building infrastructure for nuclear power agency Areva (now Orano), I was sent to follow up construction of a dam, an airport, highway, building constructions and geotechnical works. These opportunities equipped me with a variety of technical skills, and when I went on to receive my MSc in Economics and work for the government institution CAPED, I gained further insight into organizational work. With the objective to foster cross-ministerial development and economic sustainability in the public sector, I learnt a lot about what factors build a good workplace and desirable economic outcomes. Ten years in the delicate and complex world of diplomacy has strengthened these skills further. I am intrigued by the potential of working in the energy sector again, and the potential of utilising the competence I have developed throughout my career to enhance achievements of renewable energy systems. Working for a state that is under military control has been tricky – work ethics is undermined, and genuine intentions go up in smoke. Few words can describe the power of my aspiration to find a place where I can dive into new challenges and bring about visible results.
