SAMPLE OIL&GAS RELATED PROJECTS
• Caustic Soda Expansion Project for National Chlorine Company – Amman, Jordan:
• NCI undertook a major multi-million dollar expansion project that included upgrading the existing DCS system and acquiring a variety of different new field instruments. My roles:
• Coordinate with DCS vendor (Invensys-Foxboro) to ensure the ongoing project meets NCI and consultant (Uhde) requirements.
• Work with field instrumentation vendors such as Yokogawa, E+H, Wika, and others to ensure that procured equipment meets the consultant's specifications.
• Issue approvals for P& ID, I/O list, FDS, GA drawings, FAT, SAT, loop drawings, logic diagrams, power calculations, and heat dissipation after changes are made.
• Emergency Shutdown Expanding Project for AbuDhabi Oil Company – Abu Dhabi, UAE:
• The ESD system was based on a redundant PLC-5 2oo2 system from Rockwell Automation integrated with SIL3 relays. Part of the requirements for the ESD system was to extend the MIMIC panel to accommodate new signals based on a modified cause-and-effect diagram.
• My tasks included writing a conversion plan and rewriting the FDS and logic diagrams, and then reconstructing the PLC system so that the new ladder logic was perfectly merged with the existing logic
• Finally, the ESD system was connected to ABB DCS via a Modbus serial module to relay status signals to the DCS
• Fire&Gas Replacement Project for Saudi Aramco Jeddah Refinery – Saudi Arabia:
• This was a fast-paced project where I replaced the aging F&G system with a PLC-based hot standby system connected to the redundant RSView SCADA system. The scope included supplying the entire system with panels and their complete components such as intermediate relays, redundant 24VDC power supplies, and redundant Profibus DP gateways to interface with flame, gas, and smoke detectors. And alarm signaling
• ATS Installation for Saudi Aramco Alkhobar HQ – Saudi Arabia:
• I was delegated as the project manager with the help of two automation engineers from my team to design, engineer design, program, configure, install and commission the PLC based automatic transfer switching system.
