PROJECTS OPTIMIZATION OF RECYCLED HDPE & PP IN PHARMACEUTICAL BOTTLES [ 5 Jan 2021 – 1 Apr 2021 ] Métier Plastic - Métier Groupe is a company focused on producing pharmaceutical bottles using HDPE & PP., whose processing used 30% regrind material and 70% pure material. We tested the products for improvement possibilities in any of the processes and managed to increase the ratio of the regrind materials, used in processing, to 50%. The products were then put through their standard mechanical tests, them being tensile, hardness and MFI (Melt Flow Index) tests. The result of using 50/50 ratio, showed no compromise on mechanical properties of the new product as compared to prior product. STUDY THE EFFECT OF ORGANIC FILLERS ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (LDPE) [ 1 May 2021 – 22 Sep 2021 ] • Used the Pistachio shells and Date pits as fillers in conjunction with Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) in order to utilize agricultural waste and to make the material sustainable • Successfully used natural fillers as an alternative to inorganic fillers. • Studied the characteristics of virgin polymer and successfully enhanced its poor mechanical/thermal properties by incorporating organic fillers in it. • Different types of mechanical testing had been done by Universal Testing Machine (UTM) to ensure its sustainability. • The natural fillers are biodegradable However in this way adding to a worked on ecological effect. • Hybrid of Date pits & pistachio shells improved the mechanical properties of polymer and are environmental friendly and cost effective as well.
