Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited – FFBL, Karachi, Pakistan (November 1995 – Present) Working as “Unit Manager – Electrical”, May 2001 – Present Responsibilities/Accomplishments: Spearheading team of engineers and technicians and streamlining preventive & corrective maintenance on SAP based maintenance system on diversified equipment in ammonia, urea, DAP and utilities plants. Proficiently handling 2 X 26.3 MW general electric frame 5 gas turbines with GE EX2100e and EX2000R excitation systems and G30 protection relays, field ground detection system, AC & DC motors and motor control centers, battery charger, inverter, and batteries. Managing uninterrupted power supply system. Leading testing, inspection & maintenance of gas turbine generator/protection relays & synchronization of 13.8 kV switch gear (metal clad SF6 insulated), 2.4 kV switch gear (vacuum Insulated) & 480 V switch gear (air Insulated). Executing variable frequency drives (ABB, Danfoss & Siemens) for smooth working.
Resourcefully implementing highest industrial standards of health, safety and environment, work permit procedures, electrical equipment isolation procedures including LOCKOUT/ TAGOUT (LOTO), while preparing annual budget of electrical unit and monitoring all expenses. Carried out short circuit calculations of electrical system. During Engineering phase of FFBL, performed design review of single line and schematic diagrams of switchgears & motors, grounding/lightning system drawings submitted by EPC contractor, cable sizing calculations, cable selection & indoor/outdoor lighting system ensuring that work aligns with project specifications and international codes & standards. Review of load list, power system studies, equipment layouts, area classification, equipment sizing calculations and data sheets. Selected electrical equipment for normal & hazardous locations, as well as worked with 60/50 Hz frequency convertors, while managing programmable logic controller (PLC) based electrical load shedding system. Managed uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system for critical loads, as well as carried out electrical system design for FFBL tank farm area. Supported in generator room & substation buildings designing. Prepared & implemented electrical job packages, including preparation of complete electrical job scope, bill of material &relevant drawings. Developed specifications for electrical equipment i.e., LV/MV motors, switchgears, transformers, lighting system, radio communication/telephone system and generators.
