Reference Librarian

The Reference Librarian will be responsible for providing reference and research assistance to library patrons. This includes helping patrons locate materials, answering questions, and providing guidance on research strategies. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as a strong knowledge of library resources and research methods. This position requires a high level of organization and attention to detail. The Reference Librarian will also assist with collection development and maintenance, as well as participate in library programming and outreach activities. Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Previous experience working in a library setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of library resources and research methods
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Proficient in using technology for research and information retrieval
- Fluent in English (Portuguese language skills preferred)

Responsibilities:
- Provide reference services to library patrons, including locating materials, answering questions, and assisting with research strategies
- Participate in collection development by selecting materials for purchase and weeding out outdated or irrelevant materials
- Assist with maintaining the organization of the physical collection, including shelving books and ensuring all materials are properly cataloged
- Plan and conduct library programming events to promote literacy, education, and community engagement
- Participate in outreach activities to promote the library's resources and services to the community
- Stay up-to-date on new technologies, trends, and resources related to the field of librarianship
