Librarian (English-speaking)

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Librarian to join our team in Doha. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for managing the library's collection, assisting patrons with research and reference inquiries, and maintaining the library's catalog system. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a library setting, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work independently. This position is open to both Canadian and Nepali nationals who are fluent in English. Accommodation and visa sponsorship will not be provided.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the library's collection by acquiring new materials, cataloging items, and shelving books
- Assist patrons with research and reference inquiries
- Maintain the library's catalog system by adding new materials, updating records, and ensuring accuracy
- Plan and execute engaging programs and events for library patrons
- Promote the use of library resources through outreach efforts
- Train and supervise volunteers or staff members as needed
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in literature and technology to enhance library services
- Handle administrative tasks such as budgeting, scheduling, and reporting

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Previous experience working in a library setting is required
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to assist diverse patron populations
- Knowledge of cataloging systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress
- Proficiency in English is required; additional languages are a plus
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Familiarity with current technology used in libraries such as online databases and e-readers
