Librarian - Hawalli, Kuwait
We are hiring a dedicated and experienced Librarian to join our team in Hawalli, Kuwait. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and organizing our library collection, assisting patrons with research and reference inquiries, and promoting the use of library resources.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the library collection by cataloguing, classifying, and shelving materials according to established systems
- Develop and maintain a user-friendly library catalogue system for easy access to resources
- Assist patrons in locating materials and provide guidance on research methods and reference tools
- Plan and conduct engaging programs to promote literacy and lifelong learning
- Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum needs and enhance student learning through library resources
- Evaluate, select, and acquire new materials to keep the library collection up-to-date and relevant
- Maintain accurate records of circulation statistics, inventory, and budget expenditures
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Librarian in a school or public library setting
- Knowledge of different cataloguing systems (Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress Classification)
- Proficiency in using library software and online databases for cataloguing and managing collections
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist diverse groups of patrons
- Excellent communication skills in English (Filipino language skills is a plus)
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Salary: 1100$ per month (negotiable based on experience)
