Interpreter (Funchal, Portugal)


We are seeking a skilled Interpreter to join our team in Funchal, Portugal. As an Interpreter, you will be responsible for facilitating communication between individuals who speak different languages. Your primary role will be to accurately interpret verbal and written communication from one language to another, ensuring that all parties involved understand the information being conveyed.

Responsibilities:
- Interpret verbal communication between two or more individuals who do not share a common language
- Translate written documents from one language to another with accuracy and attention to detail
- Utilize specialized vocabulary and terminology when interpreting in specific fields, such as legal or medical settings
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times while interpreting
- Serve as a cultural liaison by explaining cultural nuances and customs to both parties during interpretation
- Assist with administrative tasks related to interpretation services, such as scheduling appointments and maintaining records of interpreted sessions

Requirements:
- Proven experience as an interpreter or in a similar role
- Fluency in English and at least one other language (Portuguese, Spanish, French preferred)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong knowledge of cultural differences and sensitivities when communicating across languages
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and think on your feet in fast-paced situations
- Biometric passport preferred but not required
- Comfortable working with individuals of all genders

Salary: $900 per month (contract position)
