Interpreter in Svalbard
As an interpreter in Svalbard, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between individuals or groups who do not speak the same language. This profession requires excellent language skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to quickly adapt to different settings and topics.
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and efficient interpretation services for clients in various settings, such as meetings, conferences, and interviews
- Facilitate communication between parties by accurately conveying verbal and non-verbal messages
- Research and familiarize yourself with relevant terminology and subject matter to ensure accurate interpretation
- Maintain confidentiality of all information shared during interpretation sessions
- Assist with any necessary document translation as needed
- Collaborate with other interpreters and team members to ensure high-quality services are provided
Requirements:
- Fluency in at least two languages, including English (other languages spoken in Svalbard are preferred)
- Proven experience as an interpreter or translator (experience in a legal or medical setting is a plus)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Willingness to travel within Svalbard as needed
Salary:
This position offers a salary of 1000$ per month.
Location:
This job is based in Svalbard. While preference will be given to candidates currently residing in Svalbard, we welcome applications from candidates willing to relocate.
