Welder - Svalbard

As a Welder in Svalbard, you will play a crucial role in the construction and maintenance of various structures and equipment. You will be responsible for joining metal parts using various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding. Your attention to detail and precision will ensure that the finished product meets the required specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Select appropriate welding technique based on material type and thickness
- Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, cutting or grinding
- Set up welding equipment and adjust settings to achieve desired weld quality
- Ensure proper ventilation and safety precautions are in place
- Monitor welding process to avoid defects or distortions
- Inspect finished welds for accuracy and repair any imperfections
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Welder, preferably in industrial or construction settings
- Ability to read technical drawings and follow instructions accurately
- Knowledge of different welding techniques and their applications
- Proficiency with welding tools (e.g. MIG, TIG, arc welders)
- Good physical strength and stamina to work in various positions for extended periods of time
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Safety-conscious with knowledge of proper handling of hazardous materials

Preferred Qualifications:
- Welding certification from a recognized institution
- Familiarity with different types of metals
- Previous experience working in harsh weather conditions
