Preservation Architect
As a Preservation Architect, you will be responsible for preserving and restoring historical buildings and structures in Oslo. You will work closely with local government agencies, historical societies, and property owners to ensure that these structures are maintained and protected for future generations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of historical buildings and structures to determine necessary preservation and restoration work
- Develop preservation plans that adhere to local laws, regulations, and standards
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to oversee restoration projects
- Utilize knowledge of traditional building materials and techniques to ensure authenticity in restoration work
- Monitor progress of preservation projects and make necessary adjustments as needed
- Identify potential risks to historical structures and implement preventative measures
- Keep updated records of all preservation projects, including budgets, timelines, and completion reports
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in preservation architecture or a similar role
- Strong understanding of local laws, regulations, and standards related to historic preservation
- Proficient in AutoCAD and other relevant design software
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to travel as necessary for project assessments
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working on international preservation projects
- Knowledge of traditional building materials used in Norway
- Familiarity with biometric passport requirements for international travel
