Job Responsibilities:
-Read blueprints, sketches and instructions to understand the requirements of a job
-Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
-Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
-Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
-Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
-Inspect and test welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
-Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Qualifications:
-Certification as a welder is required; additional certifications may be desired
-Experience with manual or semi-automatic welding equipment (TIG, MIG, ARC etc.) is essential
-Familiarity with industrial processes and safety standards is beneficial
-Ability to read technical documents such as blueprints would be an asset
-Physical stamina and dexterity required for long periods of standing, bending, crouching etc.
