Welder Job Summary

Job Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Welder include but are not limited to:
• Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.
• Monitor the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material.
• Assemble and secure pipes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding pieces together.
• Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, fluxes and other accessories as required for each job.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate for this position must have:
• High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a technical school is preferred but not required.
• Relevant work experience in welding is desirable but not essential as on-the-job training may be provided.
• Knowledge of safety practices related to welding activities is a must.
• Excellent manual dexterity with good eye-hand coordination is important for accuracy in performing welds on small parts or thin materials as well as on large structures.
