The main responsibilities of the Welder include:
• Safely operate welding equipment such as arc welders, spot welders, gas welders, soldering irons, grinders/cutters etc.
• Read blueprints or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements
• Set up the necessary equipment according to the job specifications
• Prepare metal surfaces prior to welding by brushing off dirt/rust or grinding them down
• Use various hand tools such as hammers or chisels when cutting metal pieces prior to welding
• Position parts in jigs or fixtures using clamps
• Perform basic maintenance on equipment such as cleaning it regularly or replacing worn components
• Ensure that all safety measures are followed at all times while working with hazardous materials such as gases or electricity
