As a Welder, your responsibilities will include reading blueprints or drawings and determining the type of welding needed for each job; setting up machines; carrying out various types of welding processes (including gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux-cored arc welding, shielded metal arc welding); examining welds and making repairs when necessary; and accurately measuring materials before cutting. You should also be able to perform basic maintenance on welding equipment as needed.

The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent knowledge of all types of metals used in the process; good hand-eye coordination; problem solving skills; attention to detail; physical strength; endurance; mathematical aptitude; good communication skills; a valid driver's license (for jobs that require travel); up-to-date safety training certification from an accredited organization (e.g., OSHA); and experience with relevant software programs (e.g., AutoCAD). A degree or qualification in Welding Technology is highly desirable but not essential for this role.
