Job Description:
The Optometrist will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including vision screenings, diagnosing visual problems, prescribing corrective lenses or medications, performing minor eye surgeries and providing patient education about eye care and safety measures. The Optometrist will also be responsible for other duties such as maintaining patient records, ordering supplies and equipment, overseeing the work of assistants and technicians, consulting with other medical professionals regarding patientsā conditions and maintaining a clean work area.
Requirements & Duties:
ā¢ Bachelorās degree in optometry or related field; state licensure as an optometrist is required; additional certifications may also be necessary depending on the jurisdiction.
ā¢ Proven experience as an optometrist; experience working with children is preferred but not required.
ā¢ Superior knowledge of vision care treatments and procedures; excellent communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; attention to detail; ability to work independently or as part of a team; excellent organizational skills; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; comfortable working with computers and other medical equipment; knowledge of relevant laws governing optometry practice in the region is preferred but not required.
ā¢ Conduct vision tests on patients to diagnose vision problems or issues resulting from injury or disease; prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses when needed; recommend treatment options such as vision therapy or medications when necessary; oversee the work performed by assistants and technicians during testing procedures; consult with ophthalmologists regarding more serious cases when needed; maintain accurate patient records according to legal requirements or office policies; provide advice on proper eye care practices such as nutrition tips for better eyesight etc.; ensure all safety protocols are followed when administering medications or performing minor eye surgeries etc.; order supplies for the office as needed etc.
