Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Psychiatrist to join our team in Doha, Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a wide range of mental health services to patients in the community and hospital setting. This includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of psychiatric disorders. The successful candidate must be willing to work closely with other medical professionals and have excellent communication skills.

Duties:
• Diagnose and treat mental illnesses through a combination of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hospitalization, medication, and other therapies.
• Evaluate patients to determine the nature and extent of mental disorder using interviews, psychological tests, physical examinations or other assessment techniques.
• Develop treatment plans based on scientific principles and professional standards that guide clinical decision-making.
• Monitor patient progress toward goals established in treatment plans by periodically reviewing patient files and tracking patient outcomes.
• Provide individual or group counseling sessions to help patients manage their illness or emotional issues related to their illness.
• Educate patients about their conditions through individual sessions or group classes on topics such as stress management or recovery strategies.
• Work with families of patients who have been diagnosed with mental illnesses to provide education about the condition and support for those affected by it.
• Consult with other healthcare providers regarding diagnosis or treatment of mental illnesses when appropriate.
Qualifications:
• A medical degree (MD) from an accredited school is required for this position
• Completion of a residency program in psychiatry is also required
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Psychiatrist is strongly preferred
• Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry is preferred
• Must be licensed to practice medicine in Qatar
• Excellent communication skills both orally and written in English is essential
