Job Title: Librarian
Location: Al Shamkhah City, Oman
Salary: 1200 OMR/month

We are seeking an experienced Librarian to join our team at Al Shamkhah City Library in Oman. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties including organizing library collections and resources, providing reference services and assisting library patrons with requests. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills as well as excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities
• Manage the library's collections and resources, including books, periodicals, audio-visual materials, electronic resources, databases and other materials.
• Provide reference services to users such as answering queries or conducting research for them.
• Assist patrons in locating materials in the library or online.
• Assist in the maintenance of library policies and procedures.
• Check material in and out of the library according to procedure.
• Process new materials such as books or periodicals for cataloging.
• Develop programming and other educational activities for patrons such as book clubs or writing workshops.
• Maintain records of patron borrowing activity.
• Assist with ordering new books, periodicals and other library materials when needed.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field is preferred but not required.
• Previous experience working in a library setting is preferred but not required.
• Experience with computers and various software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of cataloging principles is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently without supervision is essential for this role.

We are open to considering a foreigner for this role provided they can demonstrate their ability to meet the requirements outlined above. Salary is 1200 OMR/month which will be paid on a monthly basis after successful completion of probation period (if applicable).
