Job Title: Librarian – Dubai

Location: Dubai, UAE

Salary: 1100 AED per month

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Librarian to join our team in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of library services, including cataloging, acquisition, circulation, reference and research services.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can work with a diverse range of users. You must have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to think quickly on your feet.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain the library's collection of books, periodicals, audio-visual materials and other materials.

- Monitor the condition of the library's materials and equipment.

- Provide readers’ advisory services.

- Plan and implement library programmes such as book clubs and author visits.

- Research new materials and methods in librarianship to improve service delivery.

- Assist with research activities by providing requested information from computerised databases or other sources.

- Provide reference services to library users by answering questions or referring them to appropriate resources.

- Supervise the work of library assistants according to established policies and procedures.


Qualifications & Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field from an accredited university (or equivalent).

- Experience working as a librarian in a public or academic library is preferred but not required.

- Knowledgeable in current trends in librarianship or information science is preferred but not required.

- Must be computer literate with knowledge of software applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc

- Excellent organizational skills; must be able to prioritize tasks independently

- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

- Fluency in English (additional language proficiency would be beneficial)

- Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed
