Job Summary: The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye exams, diagnose and treat eye diseases, and recommend corrective lenses or contact lenses for patients. He/she will also be responsible for educating patients on proper eye care and providing advice on lifestyle changes that may improve their vision.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive eye exams using specialized equipment such as retinoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, autorefractors, and visual field analyzers
• Diagnose and treat common vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
• Prescribe corrective lenses or contact lenses based on patient's individual needs
• Educate patients on proper eye care techniques such as healthy diet habits and avoiding strenuous activities that can strain eyesight
• Provide advice on lifestyle changes that may improve vision such as quitting smoking or reducing screen time
Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Optometry or related field required (Master's degree preferred) • At least 3 years of experience working in an optometry practice • Knowledge of ophthalmic instruments and imaging techniques • Excellent interpersonal communication skills • Ability to stay calm under pressure
