The ideal candidate must be reliable, have an eye for detail and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

The successful candidate must possess at least two years' experience in the masonry field, have knowledge of modern tools and techniques, and be physically fit enough to stand for long periods of time. They should also have a valid driver's license and be able to provide references from previous employers.

The primary duty of the Mason is to build structures using different types of materials such as brick, concrete blocks, stone, marble, or granite. Other duties include repairing existing structures by replacing damaged bricks or stones; checking building plans; cutting bricks or stones according to specifications; setting out walls by measuring them accurately; installing lintels or arches; removing debris from construction sites; sharpening tools; cleaning tools after use; laying drains pipes; mixing mortar by hand; applying waterproofing materials on walls; plastering surfaces with cement mixture among other tasks related to masonry services.
