The primary role of the Fitter is to assemble, install, test, maintain and repair mechanical components and systems in accordance with applicable codes, regulations and safety standards. The Fitter must be able to read blueprints accurately and adhere to tight deadlines while delivering quality workmanship. Other duties include conducting tests on machinery to ensure proper functioning, making repairs as needed, completing documentation for all tasks performed, performing preventative maintenance on equipment regularly and responding to emergency repair requests quickly.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent physical dexterity along with knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals such as gears and bearings. They should have experience working with hand tools such as wrenches, drill presses, saws and screwdrivers as well as basic electrical tools like voltmeters and ammeters. Attention to detail is essential along with an understanding of related safety protocols when working with hazardous materials or in potentially dangerous environments. Candidates must also possess excellent communication skills in order to effectively collaborate with colleagues.
