The primary responsibility of a Phlebotomist is to collect blood from patients for laboratory testing purposes. The phlebotomist should be able to accurately identify the patient and verify all necessary paperwork before proceeding with blood collection, while ensuring that the procedure follows safety standards and protocols. Furthermore, they must be able to properly label and store the collected samples as well as track patient information in the computer system.

The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable in both clinical laboratory procedures and medical terminology, possess strong communication skills and be able to work with different types of people from all walks of life. In addition, they should have good problem-solving abilities and remain calm under pressure. A valid certification from a recognized phlebotomy program would be considered an asset but not required for this position.
