Spacecraft Flight Controls System Engineer (Associate, Experienced, or Lead)

The Boeing Defense Space and Security is seeking Associate Experienced and/or Lead Spacecraft Flight Controls System Engineers to provide technical on-orbit support for satellite flight control systems within our Space Intelligence and Weapons Systems team.

Typical assignments will include requirements definition and flow-down algorithm design simulation development and maintenance system performance analysis software validation development of satellite operating procedures and tools and support to satellite operations.  This position is located in El Segundo CA.

Position Responsibilities:
Evaluate customer and mission needs for the flight control system throughout product life
Create models simulations and tools supporting flight control system analysis validation and operations
Perform trade studies in order to meet program and customer requirements
Conduct on-orbit data trending analysis and investigations into off-nominal system behavior
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on corrective actions and process improvements present recommendations and status to program leadership and customers
Provide subject matter expertise in flight control hardware (sensors actuators processors) software and simulation architectures throughout the product life

This position is expected to be onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Work Authorization:

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5) formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreement to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry
1 or more years’ experience working on space launch vehicle or satellite programs
1 or more years’ experience with aircraft missile spacecraft autonomous platform or similar vehicle Guidance Navigation or Control systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience developing solutions to complex technical problems
Experience working tasks in support of spacecraft mission and on-orbit operations
Strong communication (both written and verbal)
Experience working with C/C++
Experience working with MATLAB/Simulink

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA ABET accreditation is the preferred although not required accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA ABET accreditation is the preferred although not required accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA ABET accreditation is the preferred although not required accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Summary pay range for experienced level: 108800 – 147200
