Your Opportunity as Department Manager
Oversee the packing jars operations and function as a member of site leadership team. Ensure standardization across the jars departments and lead targeted initiatives to drive improvements. Responsible for leadership development of roles within Operations including Area Leaders Process Engineers and Team Leaders. This role is responsible for driving efficiency and systemic improvement through ownership of the Autonomous Maintenance pillar. This role is a key supporter of the Leadership and Commitment key element programs within HSE and Quality.

In this role you will:
Be responsible for jars packaging departmentLead the department and deliver department master plan plant reliability and financial goals and systems implementationBuild capability of department in the areas of interpersonal technical and business skills through consistent feedbackResponsible for meeting Quality Safety Reliability Delivery Organization Capability Sustainability and Cost targets for plant operationsAbility to work with all plant functions including departments and pillars to ensure all production needs are metCoordinate activities to increase Autonomous Maintenance knowledge throughout the plant utilize Autonomous Maintenance to improve Operations measures across the plantExcellent understanding of overall plant product flow including all inputs and outputsExcellent understanding of all pillars and maintaining a healthy relationship between Operations and pillarsIdentify and eliminate losses from the operation lead in solving issues to cause and implement improvements utilize Critical Thinking toolsCoach the management of capital projects to improve Operations measures in the areas of capacity growth production efficiencies Quality and SafetyInfluence plant direction by contributing to the Plant Leadership teamLead high-performance work culture by engaging with team members on the floor and coaching them to problem solve make decisions and become self-reliant removes barriers and provides resources for team’s workEnsures that essential business information and general expectations are clearly communicated and understood by all members of the teamResponsible for managing the department budget which includes labor maintenance spending production supplies etc.Optimize the work in the department and drive toward zero defects using Smucker Continuous Improvement methodologies. Provide Plant Pillar leadership as needed.Develop and implement improvement projects and drive completion through the teamsPartner with other departments to ensure consistent policies and processes are being implemented across the Orrville plant

Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree an Engineering or Technical degree is preferred5 years of manufacturing operational experience managing supervisors and teamsProven ability to lead and influence a large organization to deliver business needsAbility to engage on the floor to coach and motivate othersEffectively works across organization boundaries and with diverse teamsExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent presentation written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational critical thinking problem solving and root-cause identification skillsDemonstrated use of Continuous Improvement processes and tools to achieve measurable improvementsWillingness to work off-shifts or weekends as needed
