Librarian - Collections and Resources Manager

As a Librarian - Collections and Resources Manager, you will be responsible for managing the collections and resources of a library in Al Shamkhah City, UAE. This position is open to both Indian and Egyptian candidates who have excellent English language skills and previous experience in a similar role.

Your main responsibilities will include:

- Developing and maintaining the library's collection by selecting, purchasing, cataloging, and organizing materials such as books, journals, audiovisual materials, and electronic resources.
- Evaluating the library's current collection to identify gaps or areas that need improvement.
- Collaborating with other librarians to coordinate collection development policies and procedures.
- Managing the library's budget for acquisitions and subscriptions.
- Ensuring that all materials are properly cataloged and accessible to users through an organized system.
- Managing electronic resources such as databases, online journals, and e-books.
- Assisting users in locating materials, conducting research, and using library resources effectively.
- Providing guidance on copyright laws and ethical use of information to library patrons.
- Supervising support staff in their daily tasks such as shelving books or processing new materials.
- Staying up-to-date on industry trends and developments related to collections management.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science or a related field.
- Previous experience working as a librarian or in a collections management role.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Knowledge of cataloging systems such as MARC21 or AACR2.
- Familiarity with electronic resources management systems (ERMS) is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
