Librarian (English Speaking) - Contract Position in Sharjah, UAE


Our library in Sharjah is seeking a qualified and experienced Librarian to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate should have excellent English communication skills and be able to work with a diverse group of patrons. This position is open to Pakistani nationals who have experience working as a librarian.

As a Librarian, you will be responsible for managing the library's resources and providing assistance to library users. Your duties will include cataloguing new materials, organizing the collection, and maintaining accurate records of borrowed items. You will also be responsible for assisting patrons with locating materials, answering reference questions, and providing research support.

The successful candidate must have at least 2 years of experience working as a librarian in an English-speaking environment. You should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively. A Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and organize the library's collection of books, journals, magazines, and other materials
• Catalogue new materials using appropriate classification systems
• Maintain accurate records of borrowed items and ensure timely returns
• Assist patrons with locating materials and answering reference questions
• Provide research support for students, faculty members, and other library users
• Create engaging displays to promote new materials or special collections
• Stay updated on current trends in library services and implement new technologies as needed
• Train new staff members or volunteers on library procedures and policies

Requirements:
• Pakistani national with excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Minimum 2 years of experience working as a librarian in an English-speaking environment
• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
• Knowledge of library classification systems and cataloguing procedures
• Familiarity with library management software and databases
• Ability to work well with a diverse group of patrons and colleagues
• Flexibility to work on a contract basis, with the possibility of extension
