Librarian - Abu Dhabi, UAE
As a librarian in Abu Dhabi, you will be responsible for managing and organizing the library's resources to ensure efficient and effective access for patrons. You will provide guidance and assistance to library users, as well as oversee the maintenance of the library's collection and facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the acquisition, cataloging, and classification of library materials
- Develop and maintain a user-friendly system for organizing and retrieving library resources
- Assist patrons with locating materials, utilizing online databases, and conducting research
- Develop and implement programs to promote literacy and encourage reading among all age groups
- Oversee the circulation of library materials and handle any related issues or concerns
- Train and supervise support staff to ensure smooth operation of the library
- Collaborate with other librarians to plan events, create displays, and coordinate programs
- Stay updated on emerging technologies in library services to improve efficiency
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a similar role in a public or academic library
- Strong knowledge of cataloging systems (Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress)
- Familiarity with automated library systems (ILS)
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Customer service-oriented with strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficient in English; additional languages are an asset
Salary: AED 6,000 - AED 7,000 per month (depending on experience)
This is a contract position for one year with potential for extension. Applicants must have a valid biometric passport. Indian nationals preferred.
