Librarian for Indian Community Library in Al-Rayyan, Qatar



We are seeking a qualified and experienced Librarian to manage our Indian Community Library in Al-Rayyan, Qatar. This is a part-time position with a salary of 1800$. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literature and promoting reading within the Indian community. This is an urgent need and we are looking for someone who can start immediately.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of the library including organizing and maintaining books, ensuring proper cataloging and shelving systems are in place
- Promote library services and resources to members of the Indian community
- Plan and implement programs and events to encourage reading, learning, and cultural exchange
- Assist library users with finding materials, using technology, and answering reference questions
- Collaborate with other librarians and community organizations to enhance library services
- Keep up-to-date with current trends in literature and technology to improve library offerings
- Train and supervise volunteers who may assist with daily tasks or programs
- Maintain accurate records of circulation statistics, budget expenditures, and inventory levels

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in a library setting
- Knowledge of current library practices, technologies, and resources
- Excellent communication skills to interact with diverse members of the Indian community
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Fluency in English is preferred but not required
