Senior Librarian

The Senior Librarian will be responsible for managing and coordinating the daily operations of a library in Doha, ensuring that it meets the needs of its patrons. This individual will oversee a team of librarians and support staff, providing guidance and training as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of library science, information systems, and collection development. They must also possess excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of library operations including budgeting, collection development, and staff supervision
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient functioning of the library
- Provide reference services to patrons, assisting them with research inquiries and locating materials
- Oversee the cataloging and classification of library materials
- Plan and execute library programs and events to promote literacy and engage the community
- Stay up-to-date on new technologies and trends in librarianship to improve services offered by the library
- Collaborate with other departments within the organization to develop joint programs or initiatives
- Train staff on new systems or procedures to ensure effective service delivery
- Maintain accurate records of library usage statistics for reporting purposes

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in a library setting, preferably in a leadership role
- Knowledge of current trends in library science, including emerging technologies for information management
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; fluency in English is required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure
- Experience managing budgets and developing collection strategies preferred
