Librarian
The Salalah Public Library is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Librarian to join our team. As the Librarian, you will be responsible for managing the library's collection, assisting patrons with research and reference inquiries, and promoting library resources and services to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and organize the library's collection, including cataloging, shelving, and weeding materials.
- Assist patrons with research inquiries and provide reference services, both in person and online.
- Develop and lead library programming for all ages, such as book clubs, story times, and technology workshops.
- Promote library resources and services through outreach efforts, including social media, presentations, and community events.
- Train and supervise library staff in circulation procedures and customer service best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of library materials circulation and patron interactions.
- Collaborate with other departments within the Salalah Public Library to support their programming needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a library setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of library cataloging systems (e.g. Dewey Decimal Classification) and digital resources.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to assist a diverse patron population.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position based in Salalah with occasional evenings or weekends required for special events. The salary for this position is $1200 per month.
