Chemical Engineer - Process Development Specialist
As a Chemical Engineer - Process Development Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing chemical processes to ensure efficient and safe production of chemicals. You will use your knowledge of chemical engineering principles and techniques to design, test, and improve processes while considering factors such as cost, safety, and environmental impact. You will also collaborate with other engineers and technicians to troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities for process improvement. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize chemical processes to meet production goals while ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness
- Conduct process simulations and modeling using software tools
- Design experiments to test new processes or modifications to existing ones
- Analyze data from experiments and make recommendations for process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot process issues
- Participate in the development of new products by providing technical expertise on process capabilities
- Develop and maintain process documentation including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and batch records
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in chemical engineering technology
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
- Proficient in process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or ChemCAD
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
- Knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for chemical production
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
