Librarian - Nizwa, Oman
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Librarian to join our team in Nizwa, Oman. This role offers a salary of 1700$ per month and includes accommodation and visa sponsorship. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for managing our library resources and providing assistance to library patrons.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain library materials, including books, periodicals, and audiovisual materials
- Create cataloging systems to ensure easy access to library resources
- Assist patrons in locating materials and provide reference services
- Develop and implement programs to promote the use of the library by students and faculty
- Train new staff members on library policies and procedures
- Stay updated on current trends in information technology to enhance the library's digital resources
- Collaborate with other departments to develop interdisciplinary research projects
- Manage the budget for purchasing new materials
- Plan events such as author readings or book clubs to engage the community
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Proven experience working as a Librarian in an academic or public library setting
- Knowledge of cataloging systems and computerized databases
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to assist patrons from diverse backgrounds
- Creative thinking with the ability to develop engaging programs for library users
- Familiarity with current trends in information technology and digital resources
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Experience working with children or young adults in a library setting
- Fluency in Arabic language is preferred but not required
