Contract Librarian - Albena, Bulgaria


We are currently seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Contract Librarian in the city of Albena, Bulgaria. This is an urgent position with a competitive salary of 1600$ and does not require previous experience or accommodation.

As a Contract Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and organizing the library's collection, providing reference services to patrons, and promoting library resources and programs. You will also assist with cataloging materials, maintaining the library's online catalog, and creating displays and exhibits to showcase library materials.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for books and knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently. A degree in Library Science or related field is preferred but not required. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential for this role.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the library's collection by selecting, cataloging, processing, and weeding materials
- Provide reference services to patrons by assisting with research questions and locating resources
- Promote library resources and programs through outreach initiatives such as social media posts or community events
- Catalog new materials using standard classification systems
- Maintain the library's online catalog by updating records and ensuring accuracy
- Create displays and exhibits to highlight library materials
- Assist with circulation duties such as checking out materials, issuing library cards, and collecting fines
- Collaborate with other librarians to plan and coordinate programs for all ages

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Strong communication skills in both English and Bulgarian (or willingness to learn)
- Passion for books, knowledge, and working with the public
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when needed
