Shaper - Woodworking and Furniture Design Specialist
As a Shaper specializing in woodworking and furniture design, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, unique and functional pieces of furniture. You will work with a variety of tools and materials to shape, cut, and join wood pieces together to create the desired design. You will also be responsible for selecting the appropriate materials, finishes and hardware to complete each project. This role requires strong attention to detail, creativity, and technical skills in woodworking techniques. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in furniture making and possess a strong portfolio showcasing their work.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Interpreting design sketches or specifications to create high-quality furniture pieces
- Using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as saws, routers, sanders, and drills to shape wood pieces
- Selecting appropriate materials for each project based on durability, aesthetics and budget
- Applying finishes such as stains or paints to enhance the appearance of the furniture
- Ensuring all pieces are assembled accurately according to design specifications
- Maintaining a clean and organized work space
- Communicating with clients or designers to understand their vision and provide suggestions or recommendations when needed
- Staying up-to-date with current trends in furniture design techniques and materials
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in woodworking and furniture making
- Strong technical skills in using hand tools, power tools, and machinery for shaping wood pieces
- Ability to interpret design sketches or specifications accurately
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in measurements and assembly
- Creativity in designing unique furniture pieces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing
- In-depth knowledge of different types of wood species and their properties
- Extensive knowledge of various finishing techniques such as staining or painting
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent time-management skills to meet project deadlines
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with clients, designers, and other team members
- Physical stamina to work on your feet for extended periods of time and lift heavy materials when needed
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additional education or certification in woodworking, furniture design, or a related field is preferred.

Salary:
The salary for this position starts at $1500 per month, with the potential for increases based on performance. Accommodation will also be provided as part of the employment package.
