Job Title: Preservation Architect
A Preservation Architect is responsible for preserving and restoring historic buildings, structures, and sites. They work to maintain the original character and integrity of these structures while ensuring they meet modern safety and building codes. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for historical preservation, strong architectural skills, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on historical buildings, structures, and sites to understand their original design and materials
- Inspect and assess the condition of historic buildings and develop plans for restoration or preservation
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other architects to ensure preservation plans meet safety and building codes
- Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for preservation projects
- Oversee the construction process to ensure adherence to preservation plans
- Monitor the progress of restoration projects and make necessary adjustments as needed
- Document all restoration work for historical records
- Stay up-to-date on preservation techniques, materials, and regulations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in architectural design or restoration work
- Strong knowledge of historical preservation principles, techniques, and materials
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or other architectural design software
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
- Attention to detail with a strong eye for design aesthetics
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
Salary:
$1700 per month (without accommodation)
