Contract Librarian - Los-Angeles
We are in search of an experienced Librarian to join our team in Los-Angeles on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literature and a strong understanding of library operations. As a Contract Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and organizing our library resources, assisting patrons with research requests, and coordinating library programs and events.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the acquisition, cataloging, organization, and circulation of library materials
- Assist patrons with research and reference inquiries both in person and online
- Develop and implement library programs and events to engage the community
- Maintain accurate records of library transactions and patron information
- Monitor the condition of library materials and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed
- Collaborate with other librarians to evaluate, select, and purchase new materials for the collection
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve library services
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
- Proven experience as a Librarian or similar role
- Strong knowledge of library operations, including cataloging systems, reference resources, and circulation procedures
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with diverse groups of people
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library Science or related field
- Experience working in a public library setting
- Knowledge of current literature trends and popular authors/genres
Salary: $1200 per month (based on experience)
