Head Pastry Chef
We are seeking a talented and experienced Head Pastry Chef to join our team at a prestigious hotel in Nakuru, Kenya. As the Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pastry department, including menu planning, food preparation, and presentation. You will also be responsible for managing a team of pastry chefs and ensuring that high-quality pastries are consistently produced.
Responsibilities:
- Create and update menus for pastries and desserts
- Supervise the preparation and cooking of all pastry items
- Oversee the production of specialty cakes and desserts for events and banquets
- Ensure that all food is prepared according to established recipes and standards
- Train and mentor new pastry chefs
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen
- Collaborate with other departments to create new menu items or specials
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Pastry Chef or similar role
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen setting
- Strong knowledge of various baking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and safety regulations
- Ability to lead a team effectively and maintain high standards of quality and productivity under pressure
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Creative mindset with an eye for detail when it comes to plating desserts
- Good communication skills to collaborate with other departments
Salary: $1200 per month (negotiable based on experience)
City: Nakuru, Kenya (accommodation may be provided)
