Shaper - Woodworking Craftsman

As a Shaper in our woodworking shop located in Nakuru, you will be responsible for shaping and forming wood into various designs and structures. Your main duties will include operating shaping machinery, selecting and cutting wood pieces, and inspecting finished products for quality assurance. You must have a keen eye for detail and excellent hand-eye coordination to ensure precise and accurate shaping of wood pieces.

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate shaping machinery such as table saws, lathes, planers, and routers
- Select suitable wood pieces based on design requirements
- Cut, shape, and mold wood pieces according to specifications
- Sand and smooth rough edges or surfaces using hand tools
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance before they are sent for further processing
- Maintain and clean shaping machinery to ensure proper functioning
- Follow safety procedures at all times to prevent accidents or injuries

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification in carpentry or woodworking
- Proven experience as a shaper or similar role in a woodworking shop
- In-depth knowledge of different types of wood and their characteristics
- Proficiency in operating shaping machinery such as table saws, lathes, planers, and routers
- Excellent hand-eye coordination with strong attention to detail
- Ability to read blueprints or design plans
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
- Good communication skills with the ability to work well in a team environment

Salary: $1400 per month with accommodation provided.
