Head Pastry Chef
The Head Pastry Chef will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pastry department at our upscale restaurant in Eldoret. This includes creating and executing dessert menus, training and managing pastry staff, ensuring quality and consistency in all pastries, and managing inventory and ordering supplies. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a Pastry Chef in a fine dining establishment, strong leadership skills, and a passion for creating beautiful and delicious desserts. Salary for this position is $1000 per month.
As the Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for:
- Creating and updating dessert menus to reflect seasonal ingredients and current food trends
- Training and managing pastry staff, including hiring, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations
- Ensuring that all pastries are consistently prepared according to recipes and presentation standards
- Maintaining inventory levels of all pastry ingredients and supplies
- Collaborating with the Executive Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Developing new dessert items that showcase creativity while also appealing to our clientele
- Adhering to all food safety regulations and maintaining a clean kitchen environment
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Pastry Chef in a fine dining restaurant or hotel setting
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and manage a team
- Extensive knowledge of different types of pastries, baking techniques, flavor combinations, etc.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high quality standards
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with staff members from different departments
- Creativity and passion for creating visually appealing desserts that taste just as good as they look
