Interpreter (Shan-speaking) - Contract Position
We are seeking a skilled Interpreter to join our team on a contract basis. As an Interpreter, you will be responsible for facilitating communication between Shan-speaking individuals and English-speaking individuals in various settings such as meetings, conferences, and community events. You must have fluency in both Shan and English languages, as well as excellent communication and listening skills. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in interpretation or for someone with prior interpretation experience who is seeking a flexible work schedule. This is a contract position with a salary of $900 per month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate interpretation services between Shan-speaking individuals and English-speaking individuals.
- Ensure cultural sensitivity and understanding during all interpretations.
- Maintain confidentiality and neutrality throughout all interpretations.
- Prepare for assignments by researching relevant terminology and topic areas.
- Assist with any necessary document translation.
Requirements:
- Fluency in both written and spoken Shan and English languages.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to listen actively.
- Familiarity with cultural differences and nuances between Shan culture and English culture.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations.
- Prior experience in interpretation preferred but not required.
Location:
This job is located in Shan City, Myanmar. However, remote work may be possible depending on the assignment.
Visa/ Accommodation:
This is a contract position without accommodation or visa provided. Candidates must have their own valid visa to work in Myanmar.
