Part-Time Librarian for Women's Library in Bayan, Kuwait
We are hiring a part-time Librarian to manage our Women's Library in Bayan, Kuwait. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for organizing and maintaining the library collection, providing research assistance to library users, and promoting library services and resources.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain the library collection according to established classification systems
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the use of the library
- Assist library users with research inquiries and provide guidance on using library resources effectively
- Promote library services through outreach events and social media platforms
- Create engaging displays and programs to promote reading and literacy among women in the community
- Collaborate with other librarians to develop new collections and services that cater to the needs of women in Bayan
- Keep track of inventory levels and order new materials as needed
- Train volunteers or part-time staff on library procedures and assist them with their tasks
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience working as a librarian, preferably in a women's library setting
- Familiarity with cataloging systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress Classification
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (knowledge of Malayalam is a plus)
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact with diverse groups of people
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
Working Hours: This is a part-time position with flexible working hours. The librarian will be required to work 20 hours per week.
Salary: $1500 per month
