Contract Librarian in Ashdod, Israel


Our library is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Contract Librarian to join our team in Ashdod, Israel. This is a temporary position with a duration of six months, with the possibility of extension.

As a Contract Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the library's collection, assisting patrons with research needs, and providing excellent customer service. Your main duties will include cataloging new materials, shelving books and other items, and conducting regular inventory checks.

To excel in this role, you should have strong communication skills and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. You must also have a deep understanding of library systems and procedures, including cataloging standards and reference resources.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the library's collection by cataloging new materials according to established standards
- Assist patrons with research needs by providing guidance on utilizing library resources
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and resolving issues
- Maintain the organization of the library by shelving books and other items in their proper location
- Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure accuracy of collection records
- Collaborate with other librarians to develop programs and services that meet the needs of the community

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Previous experience working in a library setting
- Knowledge of cataloging standards such as MARC21 or AACR2
- Familiarity with various reference resources and databases
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail

Salary:
The salary for this position is $1100 per month. This is a contract position with no benefits included.

Location:
This job is located at our library in Ashdod, Israel. While Israeli citizenship is not required, preference will be given to candidates who are fluent in Hebrew.
