Database Administrator

A database administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. They are responsible for maintaining and managing databases using specialized software to store, organize and manage data. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of database structure, data management and data analysis. They should also have experience in database development, troubleshooting and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Installing and configuring database software
- Designing databases and creating data models
- Ensuring data security and backup procedures are in place
- Monitoring database performance and identifying areas for improvement
- Troubleshooting database issues and providing solutions
- Developing scripts for automation of tasks such as backups, restores or monitoring processes

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Proven work experience as a Database Administrator or similar role
- Knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL)
- Experience with database design, data modeling and performance tuning
- Ability to troubleshoot common database issues
- Familiarity with backup and recovery procedures
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information
