Reference Librarian


The Reference Librarian will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and assisting patrons with their information needs at our library in Malindi, Kenya. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of library resources and be able to effectively assist patrons with research inquiries. This position is suitable for Indian nationals who are fluent in English and have experience working in a library setting.

Responsibilities:
- Assist patrons in finding and accessing library resources, both physical and digital
- Provide guidance and support to patrons conducting research or seeking information
- Organize and maintain the reference collection, ensuring all materials are easily accessible
- Stay up-to-date on new library resources and technologies
- Plan and conduct informational workshops or training sessions for patrons
- Collaborate with other librarians to develop and implement programs that meet the needs of the community
- Handle any patron concerns or complaints in a professional manner

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience working as a librarian, preferably in a reference role
- Strong knowledge of library resources, including databases, online catalogs, and reference materials
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to assist patrons from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in English is required; proficiency in Indian languages is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed

Salary:
Salary for this position is $1800 per month.
