Collections Specialist
As a Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and collecting on past due accounts to ensure timely payment and reduce bad debt. You will work closely with customers to find solutions for payment, negotiate payment plans, and follow up on delinquent accounts. Your main goal will be to increase cash flow, decrease outstanding balances, and maintain positive relationships with customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contacting customers via telephone and email to collect on past due accounts
- Negotiating payment plans and discussing alternative payment options with customers
- Maintaining accurate records of all collections activities
- Collaborating with other departments to resolve customer disputes or issues related to payments
- Providing timely updates on collection efforts and account statuses
- Meeting monthly collection goals set by the company
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in finance or related field preferred
- Proven experience in collections or a similar role
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize information
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience using collection software preferred
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Bilingual in English/Swahili preferred (for Nakuru location) or English/French (for Canadian location)
- Experience working with diverse customer demographics, including women, is an asset
